Although mercury can be used in a variety of applications, if processed it poses a safety concern as it is a toxic, heavy metal which can have detrimental impacts on both the people and the environment. As such, the removal and collection of mercury switches is a pertinent practice.
Since 2008, Ram Iron & Metal Inc. has served and continues to serve as a participant in a national program Switch-Out which is designed to remove, collect and manage mercury containing switches before they are flattened, shredded and recycled into new steel. The switches recovered through the national program are counted, documented, reported and recycled.
